The 1st annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon took place on November 5th. The Savannah Jaycees showed their support by manning a water station at mile marker 8.

Thanks to Lyle Mackenzie for heading up this volunteer effort. Not only did we have over 70 volunteers, but our water station received raves reviews from the runners and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon committee.

We look forward to participating in the 2nd annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon next year!!!

I Love the 90′s Spring Fling benefiting United Ministries

We brought the old crew together Screetch, Vanilla Ice, Charlie Sheen and Blossom. On March 26th from 7-10 pm at the Hut, the Savannah Jaycees and Southern Motors, hosted a 90′s style Spring Fling to benefit United Ministries. We finally had a reason to break-out our nylon track suits, high waisted jeans and mini backpacks. $10 donations were accepted at the door.

The Savannah Jaycees hosted Puppy Love, an event to benefit the Humane Society of Georgia. There were great drink specials and lots of networking! Everyone was encouraged to bring items from Humane Society’s wish list, see below. Please note the Humane Society is always collecting these items and accepting donations.

Inaugural Tacky Christmas Sweater Party to benefit Toy for Tots

On December 9, 2010, the Jaycees throw a party like no other at The Hut. We hosted our first Tacky Christmas Sweater party and the turn out was amazing. Members and guests showed up in their tackiest Christmas attire. We had an amazing turnout and we were able to collect a lot of gifts to benefit Toys for Tots. Things got blurry at the end of the night, but I am sure everyone can agree that they had a great time. We had two standout sweater’s and they were awarded accordingly; Cal Chancy took home a dinner for two at The Mansion and Tom Hatridge took home a much needed Facial spa package.

Let’s celebrate by taking over City Market this Wednesday (June 30th). We’ll meet up at the Wild Wing Café at 6pm then we’ll head over to Pour Larry’s to cap the evening off.

Since we’re doing this Jaycee style, we’ll have our special 12 oz. “Jaycee travel cups” available to get you extra discounts at each location.

The cups are only $5 and the proceeds will go to revitalize the Jaycees Park and building in Midtown – so it’s all for a good cause.

Spread the word and we’ll see you on Wednesday.

**Note** Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 6th at 101 Atlas St. Doors open at 5:30pm for our happy half hour. The meeting will start at 6pm.
